What Kind of Lovense Vibrator Is Right for You?

For many people, the concept of a sex toy is synonymous with a vibrator — and it’s true that regardless of your genitalia or the kind of sex you like to have, if you’re going to buy one thing, I’d recommend it be a vibrator.

That said, what does it mean to buy “a vibrator?” We live in a golden age of sexual wellness, and there’s a wide range of kinds of sensation and erogenous zones you might want vibrated when we talk about using one. Here’s an exploration of the different kinds of vibrator (and different kinds of stimulation) on offer; which one is right for you?

Direct clit stimulation

Domi2

The classic vibrator premise, and what most people (including maybe you) are thinking of when you think of vibrators, is a toy designed for direct clitoral stimulation. The clit is the most sensitive and powerful pleasure center of the body, with over 10,000 nerve endings, and the vast majority of people with a clitoris need some kind of direct clitoral stimulation in order to orgasm. Put simply, a vibrator to your clit is one of the most intense erogenous experiences you can have, and for many people the most reliable way to come.

Vibrators designed for direct external stimulation come in many shapes and sizes — they might be small and discreet, like bullet vibrators, or larger toys in all kinds of configurations. Wand toys, like the Domi 2 from Lovense, are an enormously popular option; the wide, broad head means the entire vulva can be stimulated in addition to the clitoris, and the sensation it offers is deliciously rumbly.

Internal and external stimulation

Nora Vibrator

For many people with vulvas, g-spot stimulation is right up there with clitoral stimulation in terms of transcendent sexual experiences. Although most people need clitoral stimulation to orgasm, some people can come from g-spot stimulation alone; and even for the former group, many people report anecdotally that including g-spot stimulation can make their orgasms more intense and pleasurable.

Experiencing g-spot and clitoral stimulation at the same time is of course the realm of the famous rabbit-style vibrator, with an insertable length that you can penetrate yourself with and that focuses on the g-spot and an external extension that focuses on your clit at the same time. Lovense’s Nora vibrator has a thoughtfully curved shape that arcs upward for delicious pressure on the g-spot in addition to vibration — and it can sync to your favorite music or pair with your partner’s device over Bluetooth for long-distance fun.

High frequency vibration

Hyphy Vibrator

Some people’s clits are enormously sensitive, and they like indirect, gentle stimulation; for others, they want the most intense sensation they can possibly achieve. For many people, that comes in the form of a high-frequency vibrator. These focus on direct external clit stimulation, but are almost the inverse of wand vibrators in many ways — instead of a large, bulbous head, high-frequency vibrators have a small, targeted pinpoint tip; where wand vibrators are rumbly, high-frequency vibrators are intensely “buzzy.”

If you often find yourself wishing you could feel even more intense sensation, a high-frequency vibrator like Lovense’s Hyphy might be the perfect fit. It comes with three different silicone tips, which offer a range of high-frequency sensations, including a fluttering tongue-shaped attachment that reminds many people of cunnilingus. And you aren’t limited to pinpoint sensation; the end of the Hyphy vibrator is also insertable, doubling as a vibrating g-spot toy.

Anal stimulation

Hush 2 Vibrator

If you have a prostate, a vibrating toy that offers anal stimulation may be right up your alley; even if you don’t have a prostate, many people find anal stimulation hot, fun and incredibly pleasurable. There are a lot of ways to explore anal play, from dildos to anal beads to various insertable toys. The most important thing to look for in an anal toy is safety; Lovense’s Hush 2 is a great example of a safe, fun anal toy in that it has at least a 2-inch flange on the end, making sure it won’t be inserted too far. It’s a perfect place to start when it comes to an anal vibrator — it can be used as a toy in bed or worn in public, it’s super easy to insert and remove, and offers delicious vibration for up to four hours of continuous use. It can even be controlled remotely via Bluetooth, giving you and your partners endless options for public or long-distance play.

Sucking & air pressure stimulation

Tenera 2 Vibrator

One of the most novel and exciting — and for many people, pleasurable — new advances in the sexual wellness space is the advent of air pressure toys. These provide a sense of suction around the clit that feels somewhat akin to oral sex and totally different than any clit vibrator you’ve used before. Pulses of air create a sense of suction without actually putting undue pressure on your clit, bringing many people the most powerful orgasms they say they’ve had. As a bonus, air-pressure toys are often quieter than their more traditional vibrating counterparts. Lovense’s Tenera 2 is not only a powerhouse of air pressure technology, with up to 4500 pulses of air per minute, but lets you adjust the level of suction to fine-tune your experience and save your favorite suction patterns to make sure you have your best orgasm every time you use it.
